What is

SWITCH?

Dedicated to the dykes.

SWITCH was started by Char and Maz in 2023 from a desire to create the kind of lesbian spaces we needed when we came out.

From the beginning, SWITCH has focused on connecting community and culture, creating dancefloors that platform emerging lesbian and queer DJ talent from across the North West.

Over the past three years, the project has expanded across Liverpool and Manchester, from 250+ capacity club nights to an appearance at the DBA's Strangefest and collabs including Queensway (who provide workshops for LGBTQIA+ artists), Hardcore Babes and Diva Dungeon.

Alongside SWITCH, we wanted create something regular, affordable and familiar for the community which led to the launch of The Switch Arms, a monthly pop-up lesbian pub night. Inspired by the role lesbian bars have historically played as places to meet, organise and feel at home. The Switch Arms is a chilled, come as you are space where new faces and regulars can come together. We run these on a pay-what-you-can basis, keeping accessibility and community at the heart.

A dimly lit bar or restaurant with pink neon or mood lighting, several people socializing and standing around, with drinks on the tables. There are wall-mounted lights and various posters on the wall.
